An out-of-the-box experience awaits you at Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront

Tobago’s Restaurant and Terrace at Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront have reopened and they’ve pulled out all the stops to ensure diner safety and exciting new menu options, all served up with that world-famous view.

Think sushi, mini-beef burgers, a selection of local cheese, strawberries with a dark chocolate, marshmallow brownie, slow-roasted eisbein, pulled turkey tacos … all delivered in a single box to minimise contact with staff and make diners feel more comfortable about eating out again.

The venue and its world-class ocean vistas provides the perfect venue to celebrate all those special occasions you and your family have missed out on this year during the COVID-19 lockdown. What about celebrating that matric dance that never was, or a graduation dinner?

“We have missed being able to share our creations with diners,” says Dominique van Wezop, Head of Operation, Food and Beverage Division. “Our team has used the opportunity to relook the menu and not only what is served, but also how things are served.”

What’s in the box?

There are three boxes to choose from depending on your tastes. These boxes are sold at R705 for two diners, R400 for one person and includes a bottle of Warwick wines. Children, vegan and vegetarian baskets are available on request.

The new dining boxes, which can be enjoyed picnic-style on the terrace, are the perfect way to celebrate spring in Cape Town. The boxes can be booked and paid for in advance (at least 48 hours’ notice is required), allowing for less interaction since all your food is delivered at once, limiting further dealings with your server.

Safety first

Other key changes have also been made to ensure safe dining and comply with health and safety protocols. This includes moving tables around to allow for social distancing; a rigorous team training programme to align with the Radisson Hotels Safety Protocols; a new programme of in-depth cleanliness and disinfection procedures in partnership with SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company; as well as more regular and extremely thorough cleaning protocols for the restaurant in order to meet international standards.

The menu is also accessible via the hotel’s app so diners don’t have to handle a paper menu. In addition, diners can make use of contactless payment options, specifically apps like Zapper, rather than having to handle cash or cards.

A memorable experience

The hotel’s executive chef, Chef Norman, says they remain dedicated to creating “dishes that are delicious and that offer global flavours with local finesse”.

“We have really put our minds together to reimagine the way we do things in this new normal, without compromising the standards for which we are known,” he adds.

Van Wezop adds: “These are strange times that require some innovative thinking, but we are more than ready to offer our guests a happy, healthy and memorable dining experience.”
